There is absolutely no wrong or right way to decorate your home. It is your space and should represent you as an individual. However, there are may hacks and tricks to making the most of your home, especially when it comes to decorating.
MAKE A MOODBOARD
Make detailed moodboards that will visualise your ideas. Wether you are planning out your entire home or a singular room. Moodboards and floorpans will help you get a clear picture of how you want your home to look like and will help you achieve your goals easier. They will help you see how all the rooms/decor works together. The more detailed your mood boards will be - the easier it will be for you to accomplish. It is also a good psychological trick that will help you keep on top of tasks and your goals. You can make physical or digital mood boards, depending on what you are into. You can use Pinterest or other apps and platforms or you could print and cut out photos and stick them on a board or in a sketchbook. Be as detailed and as creative as you want!
DON’T PLACE ALL FURNITURE UP AGAINST THE WALLS
If you do not have a lot of space to work with and the rooms are quite small, your best bet would be to place your furniture against the walls. However, if you have more space - it will be better to pull the furniture away from the walls as it will create an illusion of a bigger room and will make ‘conversation’ areas seem cosier and a lot more intimate. But even in small spaces, it’s better to pick out furniture that will allow you to ‘create’ more space in your home for a cosier atmosphere.
HANG THE CURTAINS HIGH AND WIDE
Hanging up curtains right above the top of the window used to be popular back in the day and many people still do that. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it does create an illusion of smaller windows and a smaller room. If you hang up the curtains slightly higher and wider - it will make your windows look bigger and will improve the overall look of your home, no matter the room.
